Today we’re thrilled to be able to share Jim and Anna’s big day, captured by the brilliant David Weightman! The theme of the day was clearly pretty simple: fun and nonsense! This was a particularly special wedding for David to photograph though as he and Anna had been friends since childhood, having grown up as next door neighbours! I wish my neighbours were as fun, talented and unbelievably smiley as this amazing couple!
Jim and Anna met at Oxford University and it was here, in the dining hall at Queen’s College where the wedding day was to be held. Both Anna and Jim are immensely creative people – in fact alongside her job as a lecturer in French Anna is also an accomplished children’s author and many of the beautiful decorations were made by the bride’s own fair hands (with one or two illustrations by the amazing Sara Ogilvie who is also the talented illustrator of Anna’s books!) Even the cupcakes are handmade, although this time by mother of the bride Jan.
Anna’s various talents may have been well and truly on display at the wedding but clearly Jim is not one to be outdone as he later performed with his improvisational comedy group, the Oxford Imps to get the guests well and truly embracing the relaxed, nonsensical vibe of the day – a fitting reply to the beautifully choreographed A-Capella singing group (featuring the couple’s celebrant Zena Birch) who had serenaded Anna and Jim into the ceremony together.
What a wedding this clearly was and I think it’s clear in every frame just how much Anna and Jim enjoyed themselves! It’s great to see a wedding just so filled with fun and laughter, and thank you so much to David Weightman for sharing it with us!
