This time our weekly wedding inspiration comes from the wedding experts at the House of Fraser. Susanna Cha brings you her top tips for choosing your bridesmaids dresses and if you are anything like me you’ll need all the help you can get!

The House of Fraser offers a selection of stunning wedding dresses, bridesmaids ensembles and groomsmen attire, you can view the full range on their website here. But not before you have picked up some top expert tips…

Even though planning a wedding can be exciting and a lot of fun, it can also be a stressful time because brides are usually the final decision maker. This is also the case for finding your perfect bridesmaids dresses. Before I present you with a couple of tips that could come to use when picking out the bridesmaid dresses, it is important that you already know the kind of colour scheme you are going to have at your wedding. Because these colours ultimately need to compliment or match with your bridesmaids dresses.

Body shape

You want to pick out dresses that flatter the body shape of your bridesmaids. For example, if one of your bridesmaids feels uncomfortable about their arms, then it would not be recommended to try to push her in a strapless dress because this would perhaps influence her confidence. If you, however, really want them in that specific dress which is strapless, then try to compensate by also buying a bolero or other type of jacket that she can wear above it to cover her arms a little. To give you some inspiration, I have lined up a couple of bridesmaid’s dresses for you.

Allow them to have a say.

Even though you might have a certain look in mind as to how you would like your bridesmaid to look like, bear their opinion in mind. Ask them before stepping into a store, what it is that they would like to wear and try to blend their taste in with yours. At the end, you would like everyone to be happy at your wedding day, so it is probably best to listen to their input.

Your dress sets the style.

Just like knowing the type of colour scheme, it is also important to already have chosen your own dress, prior to going bridesmaids dress shopping. This is important because your wedding dress will set the tone and you don’t want your bridesmaids to have outrageous outfits that don’t compliment your classic romantic dress.

I hope that these tips have been useful and good luck with your wedding planning!
