My initial reaction to the idea of having balloons at our wedding was, to be honest, not a good one. I thought balloons would be outdated, cheesy and frankly a tad embarrassing. Balloons were for 5 year olds’ birthday parties and grandparents celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary… not for my wedding!
I could not have been more wrong.
The more I researched balloons the more I loved them! They add colour to the room, they can be funky and cool and they make a fabulous prop for the wedding photography. Also it’s a scientifically proven fact that it’s impossible to feel unhappy whilst holding a balloon! Ok the experiment in question was widely discredited and the scientist was asked to leave the university but still! Anyway the result of my new found addiction is that I have found loads of beautiful photographs to inspire and bewilder you. Do check out the links underneath, there are some fabulous weddings for you to lust after.
I was loving balloons so much that I was inspired to watch Disney-Pixar’s Up last night, a beautiful, moving masterpiece and I swear if you don’t weep in the first 30 minutes swear your heart is made of stone …. Or maybe that’s just me.
In fact, so engrossed was I that my feet were literally on fire and I wasn’t even aware! But that’s another story.
Check out this gorgeous helium filled magic………
J’adore this rainbow arch!
It really adds an entirely different dimension to the photograph and the couple look so happy and giggly with it!
How much easier is it to pose with a balloon?? Answer: lots… unless it’s windy….
Well this certainly makes an entrance!
These beautiful bunch of balloons really will turn many heads as you glide down the aisle to your man!
What a cute addition to what’s already a beaut of a banner.
The balloons I think just fuel the feeling of a party.. which is perfect for a wedding.
Something about this picture that makes me feel fuzzy and warm inside.
That party looks fun and I want to be involved.. running around on the newly cut grass chasing the balloons… sigh….
Speaking of parties… Jiminy Cricket!!!
Check out all those amazing colourful balloons, they make a rather ordinary space into something a little bit magical.
Another example of utilising balloons in the best possible way.
These blue, orange, yellow and white balloons tie in the colours of the day perfectly and make a quirky and different decoration.
Releasing balloons into the air after the wedding ceremony is a cute and quirky way to celebrate your love.
You could use it as an alternative to the confetti or as an extra little surprise!
Aren’t these supercalifragilisticexpialidocious??!
I love the oversized balloons for all the guests.
Would look fantastic in photographs and a huge talking point on the day!
CUTE overload! These pastel balloons are simply stunning and would cheer up any venue.
The little name tags hanging from each one is inspired and the matching candles all tie in perfectly.
Lastly..have I got a treat for you.
This wedding caught my eye a while ago before I had even seen Up and it stole my heart straight away.
It was completely inspired by the couples favourite Disney-Pixar classic and they recreated it beautifully.
The whole collection is a joy to look through and the use of balloons within the wedding is just sensational.

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
The world’s a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
Up, up, and away…..
