Well the world’s worst kept secret is officially out! Matt and I are getting married in La Palma! Double Eeeeeek! So very excited to finally let you know about our plans, it was tricky finally settling on a place with all the amazing choices out there but I’m really happy with our decision and can’t wait to let you know how it all pans out! It turns out it’s very different planning a wedding abroad; lots of new logistics to consider and some very amusing language barriers to overcome… anyone know the spanish for HELP?!
Anyway on with today’s post!! I thought it would be highly appropriate to look at summer wedding dresses, the weather appears to be taking a change for the better (I even had to wear sun cream!!) and I looked at loads of summer wedding dresses when I was choosing… I didn’t want to swelter in my tropical paradise after all! Well, hopefully tropical… knowing our luck there will be a tropical storm on our wedding day! 😉
To help you with your decision on choosing your favourite summer wedding dress, I have put together ten top tips for you…enjoy!
1. Don’t forget to think about the fabric of the dress, if it’s too heavy you might swelter in the sun. Consider picking a lighter fabric such as chiffon, crepe, cotton eyelet, cotton organdy, organza, georgette and voile.
2. Don’t be afraid of picking a different coloured wedding dress rather than white or ivory. It’s the perfect occasion for choosing something a little quirky! Why not pop out from the beach in something red or in pastel colors like pink or lavender. Even wedding dresses in pale blue or mint green will look great on the beach for a summer wedding.
3. Consider choosing a short or tea length wedding dress for your wedding. Very striking and it would definitely keep you cool.
4. Remember if you have a train (and I would definitely consider it!) there is a chance you may want to go out onto the beach (and you should!!!) The dress is only going to be worn once then packed away so USE it and ENJOY it. Get the photographs you want and boogie the night away.
5. Consider something a little bit different instead of a veil; think about using a birdcage veil or maybe just a simple flower in the hair to finish.
6. You don’t have to spend a fortune on your wedding dress but if you have the budget there are plenty of designer beach summer wedding dresses to choose from.
7. You don’t have to choose one wedding dress fabric of something as sheer as organza, you can use a combination of one or two light fabrics to create a sleek but light look.
8. If you are not a fan of heels why not go barefoot for your big day? Use decorated feet jewellery to keep your feet looking their best. Perfect for a beach wedding!
9. If you are worried about your long dress getting a little dirty then consider using a detachable train. It’s practicable and gives a different look for your wedding dress… perfect for the evening reception!
10. And finally, to add a groovy prop to your wedding dress what about using a parasol? It will keep you cool and is also a very fashionable accessory.
And that’s your lot! I hope you have enjoyed my ten top tips, if you have anything to add feel free to let me know via email or in the comment box below.
Farewell for now!
