SHOES!!!! Ok girls now let’s get serious…. shoes….. Truly the crowning glory of any girl’s outfit, the perfect ending to your dream dress… You gotta have the shoes!
Now I know your man might argue… “but you can’t even see the shoes under the dress, how on earth can they be THAT important to the ensemble??”
Spoken like a true man.
But we ladies know the truth. Even if you can’t see the shoes that doesn’t mean you don’t know they are there. And hello.. guys.. SHORT dresses do exist! We want to feel perfect and that means from the crown of your head to the tips of your tippy toes. The shoes are integral to that feeling and only the perfect shoes will do; they need to be comfortable (i.e. you can walk in them more than a few steps, not like they are slippers!), they need to be the right height and they need to make you feel like a diva. Like I say to all my brides: This is the day to feel like a princess and if you want to act like a diva then do. It’s your day so make it count!
I fully intend to follow my own advice and do just that.
Now. After everything I have just said I have a small problem… I don’t really wear heels! I live in boots and, though I admire them from afar, very rarely do I get the chance to wear a gorgeous pair of stilettos. I blame the fact that I am pretty tall, a self confessed tom boy and have always gone through life without the need. In my job as a wedding photographer heels aren’t really appropriate and I wouldn’t want to go head over heels on the day. Très embarrassing. I know USA photographer Jasmine Star always rocks a pair of heels at a wedding and much respect to the girl, but look at her, she was clearly born in them… Seriously!
Anyway so because of this I am a little out of the loop when it comes to the latest shoe fashions. The closest I get is when I’m photographing the shoes during the bridal preparations and even then I’m thinking about composition, light and angles… Not where can I get a pair of jimmy choos that are this cute!!
So, I’m appealing for anyone out there that wants to take pity on me and help a poor girl out. Show me the errors of my ways: emails, comments, Twitter , Facebook.. I would so appreciate it Bride Vs Groom readers…
