When it comes to the Bride and Groom getting from A to B on the wedding day one thing is clear: you want to do it in style! Two of the most popular choices to make your grand entrance are a classic car or horse drawn carriage and so today we thought we’d see if we could get to the bottom of which is the best! Time to step into the ring for this week’s Friday Fight-Out!

In the Red Corner, arguing the case for the horse drawn carriage, well let’s face it she’s all for any way of including animals in the big day… or any day come to think of it, it’s Dom “The Tog Bride”

In the Blue Corner, coming up with pretty much any reason he can as to why someone should let him drive an Aston Martin, it’s Matt “The Gormless Groom”

Wedding Car Vs Horse & Carriage
FIGHT!!!

Dom: The horse-drawn carriage is so dramatic – classic cars may be amazing pieces of engineering but how often do you have the chance to be pulled along in such romantic fashion by some beautiful horses?!

Matt: The horse drawn carriage is great for a very traditional wedding but often doesn’t work so well for something more contemporary. In choosing a car you can choose from a vast array of models to find something that perfectly matches the style of your wedding day.

Dom: Weddings are full of tradition and the horse-drawn carriage is a beautiful example. It’s the way you imagine princesses travelling and that’s what a bride should feel like on her wedding day.

Matt: Horse drawn carriages are an incredibly slow way to travel, particularly if it needs to make more than one trip to take the bridesmaids as well. It’s always difficult to judge how long exactly the journey will take and it can cause big delays to the ceremony starting.

Dom: Classic cars are notorious for breaking down which can cause enormous problems for your schedule and leave you hanging around waiting on your big day. With a horse and carriage you can be sure of no break-down’s, just a beautiful animal to look after you on the day!

Matt: Lots of people are afraid of horses and some of your guests may be amongst them. The last thing you want is to be making your guests back away as you try to make an elegant entrance.

Dom: Lots of people now like to have eco-friendly weddings and horses are definitely a beautifully eco friendly way to travel!

Matt: Hiring a classic chauffeur driven car to transport you is likely to be cheaper than hiring a horse and carriage as the horse and carriage have to be transported to the location, there’s more time prepping the horses and the carriage and the drivers need to be very specialised.

Dom: Seeing a bride in an open-topped carriage is an amazing spectacle to behold. In a car, even if it is open-topped, you can rarely see the full dress or fully experience the majesty of the occasion.

Matt: Horses can be…how shall I put this… MESSY!! There’s nothing worse than the bride elegantly stepping out of her carriage to be greeted by horses doing their business behind her!
