Sniff… sniff……..snifffffffff….sniff
Hmmm do excuse me dear readers but I appeared to have lost my sense of smell, I think I have overpowered my senses with my recent research. Sounds intriguing?! Well I will explain.
A few weeks ago, our regular contributor the perfectly sweet Holly J. Kotzé did an unusual post on the senses at a wedding. She was of course talking about the music and how important it is, you can catch the whole article here. But on her quest to point this out, she mentioned another sense that I had neglected to think about. It is in fact, one that I think many neglect and brush under the carpet… I will give you a hint.. you need your nose for it, an odor is involved.. the word Olfaction is very important.. got it? Yes, that’s right your sense of SMELL!
Now, as a wedding photographer I will be the first to admit that it’s not very high on my list of the most desired items for my wedding. But Holly of course had a point, it is part of your wedding day and you don’t want your man to smell wrong do you?! Or worse yet, no smell at all. Olfaction is vital for our memories, just think for one second about your Grandma, think of her clothes, her hair and instantly I find that a smell comes to mind. For me, it’s roses (my Grandma loved flowers!) and chocolate animal bars (I LOVED them as a child!), those smells are so strong that I almost can imagine my Grandma right next to me, tutting at my many spelling errors.. thank goodness for spellcheck ..eh?
So, you understand my fairly long-winded point? Don’t neglect the smell. Make sure your man smells wonderful, if he has a favourite fragrance then great use that! But if he doesn’t or you want a smell that will always take you back to hugging your husband for the first time.. then read on… because I have some belters! 😀
I have scoured the shops, smelt the many testers, had so many colognes sprayed on my wrist that I smelt like a herd of manly men heading to the town on a crazy night on the raz, got followed home by a pack of angry dogs certain I was their master in disguise.. well you get the picture! From all the trauma I have come up with my top 10 favourite men’s wedding day colognes and I think there is something for everyone! But if you think, I’m wrong and you want to add to the debate then write a comment or send me an email!
