Today is a day feared by, it would seem, at least three quarters of my Facebook friends and loved by the other quarter. For today marks the end of August and the beginning of September, also known as the end of the busiest month of weddings for our industry colleagues and the much feared beginning of the School term for teachers and pupils alike.
For us though September may prove to be an exciting month. With a destination wedding in France happening to coincide rather perfectly with my (also dreaded) 30th birthday it looks like we should be able to mark the occasion in style! Even Small Dog has got his passport together to come along for the ride and see if he can make my 30th birthday also my last. Like many of our colleagues waving goodbye to August also means we’re getting closer to a time when a weekend may actually represent the end of a week rather than an opportunity to capture more amazing weddings which is both a good and a sad thing: Whilst we love our jobs and are incredibly privileged to capture the happiest day of so many couple’s lives it’s also important as creatives to refresh a little and take the time to work out what can be improved upon to make sure every wedding is captured just perfectly (not to mention a chance to catch up on all the editing from so many extraordinary August weddings!)
So whilst September may mark the end of the summer (and in the case the end of my twenties!) it’s also a month to be thoroughly enjoyed. The changing of the seasons is always a beautiful time in nature and as it’s effectively the start of a new year for so many people I for one can’t wait to see what it brings.
So hello September, surprise me.
