We all know just how expensive weddings can get and how difficult it is to compromise on your wedding day for more affordable options. You’re only going to do this once after all and this is the day that many of us have dreamed about our whole lives. For a lot of people putting all of their money into the wedding does mean there has to be a compromise somewhere though and increasingly during these cash-strapped times it is the honeymoon that is taking the hit.

This compromise has seen the birth of the mini-moon – a much shorter break than the traditional honeymoon to cut down costs with the idea often being to save up for a later honeymoon. As soon as the word honeymoon is mentioned we naturally think of the most expensive destinations and 5-star hotels. Luxury is definitely the order of the day, but if the aim of the mini-moon is to reduce costs then I wonder whether we can bring the cost down even on the most luxurious of destinations.

We investigated some of the best discounts we could find on 3-day luxurious breaks in what are commonly recognised as some of the most romantic cities in the world. Here are our finds:
